The Pivot into Shadow Work

Leaving the stage of radical self love isn’t something often talked about, but we need to open the conversation about shadow work.

Radical self acceptance comes two fold—first, comes the love. Loving every single piece of yourself no matter how bad, but then comes the shadow work.

Shadow work is working with the parts of yourself which you keep in the shadows. The hidden traits that we may have accepted, but still hate. It’s dragging those dark bits into the light and saying “I learned to love you, now I need to change you.”

If we fail to do shadow work, we become a bit of a monster. Certain presidents can be great examples of the damage lack of shadow work can hold. We become egotistical and refuse to see our faults—failing to see our own failures.

We stunt our growth without shadow work. We don’t allow the universe (yeah it’s that hippy shit) to bring positive change into our lives. If we won’t change, neither will anything around us.

Starting is easy, just write down your positive and negative traits. Once you have a list, it’ll flow from you. You’ll be surprised how deeply it can effect you.
